Héctor J. Villar is a chemist (Buenos Aires University, 1978) specialized in organic geochemistry with emphasis in fossil fuels at the Institute of Geology and Geochemistry of Petroleum and Coal of the Aachen University (Germany, 1985-1988).
Over the last 30 years he participated in different activities of organic geochemistry research and petroleum geochemistry service work, focusing on the application of this technology to the oil and gas industry.
He has experience in defining geochemical programs for exploration and production projects, evaluation of analytical data quality, interpretation of high-complexity geochemical data, and integration of geochemical data with differing kinds of geology and subsurface data, including basin modeling and evaluation.
He has authored and co-authored very numerous papers, presentations, proprietary technical service reports and research reports on the habitat of source rocks, oils, gases, hydrocarbon genetic correlations and evaluation of petroleum systems from most major hydrocarbon producing fields in Argentina and South America.
In August 2006 he founded GeoLab Sur S.A., a geochemical service laboratory established in Buenos Aires that provides analytical support to the petroleum industry in the fields of exploration, production and development.
